Come Oh Saki, pour wine into the cups, and distribute
At first love seemed easy, but many difficulties ensued
In the hopes the morning breeze would unleash the scent of musk from the knots in His hair,
What pain befell the hearts, from the mere sight of those perfumed and disheveled locks!
How can I safely enjoy the enchantments of the House of the Friend ( enchantments of the inner planes),
When I am constantly urged by the bell on the camel's neck (the Master's Call) to pack up and move on?
If your Master orders you, color your prayer rug with wine,
The Salik knows something about the customs and ways of the Path.
A dark night, fear of the wave, a fierce whirlpool obstructing the way,
What do the carefree ones know about our condition, while standing safely on the shore?
All my efforts in self fulfillment ended up in shame,
How can a secret remain hidden, when it becomes the topic of gatherings?
O Hafez, if you want your Beloved's presence, do not be absent from Him (His remembrance),
When at last you see your Beloved, relinquish your hold on the world and time.
